چکیده

Traditional techniques for a distributed web server design rely on manipulation of central resources, such as routers or DNS services, to distribute requests designated for a single IP address to multiple web servers. The goal of the Distributed Cooperative Web Server (DCWS) system development is to explore application-level techniques for distributing web content. We achieve this by dynamically manipulating the hyperlinks stored within the web documents themselves. The DCWS system eeectively eliminates the bottleneck of centralized resources, while balancing the load among distributed web servers. DCWS servers may be located in diierent networks, or even diierent continents and still balance load eeectively. DCWS system design is fully compatible with existing HTTP protocol semantics and existing web client software products.

Load Balancing Approaches for Web Servers: A Survey of Recent Trends

Numerous works has been done for load balancing of web servers in grid environment. Reason behinds popularity of grid environment is to allow accessing distributed resources which are located at remote locations. For effective utilization, load must be balanced among all resources. Importance of load balancing is discussed by distinguishing the system between without load balancing and with loa...

Cooperative Web Architecture for Search and Navigation Assistance

We describe a cooperative Web architecture that logically connects contents with hyperlinks and aggregates Web servers into a extremely distributed database. The cooperative architecture thus can turn the Web into a gigantic database and at the same time provide adequate navigation assistance for the Web. We implemented it with an advanced web server that is compatible with the conventional Web...

Cooperative Caching Middleware for Cluster-Based Servers

We consider the use of cooperative caching to manage the memories of cluster-based servers. Over the last several years, a number of researchers have proposed locality-conscious servers that implement content-aware request distribution to address this problem [2, 17, 4, 5, 6]. During this development, it has become conventional wisdom that cooperative caching cannot match the performance of the...

Parallel Cache Management Protocol for Static and Dynamic Web Contents

This paper studies Random Request Distribution and Load Balancing Cache protocol (RLC) and Randomly Selected and Limited Look at neighbor (RSLL) cache algorithm based on Byte Access Frequency Factor (BAFF) for internet services with multimedia and dynamic web content. The RSLL cache algorithm considers reducing response time and achieving good load balance among web servers using limitation of ...

A Distributed Architecture of Edge Proxy Servers for Cooperative Transcoding

The large variety of devices that are gaining access to the Internet requires novel server functionalities to tailor Web content at run-time, namely transcoding. Traditional schemes assign transcoding operations to the Web server or single edge proxies. We propose an alternative architecture consisting of cooperative proxy servers which collaborate in discovering and transcoding multiple versio...
